One thing I’m learning after 50 yrs of living is to cut myself some slack, to loose myself from expectations of others and be who I truly am (the pretty and the seemingly ugly).
It’s always easy to show grace to others but much harder to extend it to our own self. I don’t know about you but I have times when I don’t handle things as I could, make stupid decisions, let my mind wander to places it probably shouldn’t and and and. All of us have “ands”. I had no idea how much I beat myself up! The Holy Spirit has been cleaning my house of “religion” and all of it’s expectations and false mind sets. I thought I was fairly free lol lol. I didn’t intend to go “there” but this is what is on my heart….
Life is a process!!! A life long one!! Our Papa embraces us all the way through the process. Every single believer experiences trials and troubles, I don’t care how much faith you think you have. Look at what Paul says in 2 Corinthians 2:8-9 while in Macedonia.
“We don’t want you in the dark, friends, about how hard it was when all this came down on us in Asia province. It was so bad we didn’t think we were going to make it. We felt like we’d been sent to death row, that it was all over for us.”
Well now, it doesn’t sound like Paul was exactly overcoming and staying strong through that situation.
Then there is Job. God bless Job!! If anyone had a right to complain and moan it was certainly Job and he did just that!
Yet in all of that and him even saying he wished he had never been born, this is what the Word says…..
“In all this did not Job sin with his lips.” Job 2:10
That is called grace y’all!! The grace of God really is amazing!
Our Papa knows we are human and is ever gentle and understanding with us.
“He knows our frame; He is mindful that we are but dust.” Psalm 103:14
Don’t expect yourself to be some kind of Wonder Woman or Superman! Be yourself, be the unique you that He created. Yes, we have failings, trials, and tribulations. Shake it off and keep going! Our Papa isn’t some score keeper in the sky checking on your behavior. He is interested in your heart. When you blow it, He still knows your heart. There is nothing of us that He isn’t already acquainted with and fully embraces.
Our life is a constant process of growth and hear this…. None of us are experts!
“Friends, don’t get me wrong: By no means do I count myself an expert in this, but I’ve got my eye on the goal, where God is beckoning us onward ~ to Jesus.”
Philippians 3:13
That is the message…. Keep your eyes on Jesus!
So join me in cutting yourself some slack. You are loved and completely accepted! He is faithful to finish the work He began in you….. And remember it’s His work! What a beautiful workmanship you are!
