My lover spoke and said to me, “Arise, my darling, my beautiful one, and come with me.
See! The winter is past: the rains are over and gone.
Flowers appear on the earth;
the season of singing has come,
the cooing of doves
is heard in our land.
The fig tree forms its early fruit;
the blossoming vines spread with the tender grapes
Give a good smell.
Rise up, my love, my fair one.
And come away!
O my dove, in the clefts of the rock,
In the secret places of the cliff,
Let me see your face,
Let me hear your voice;
For your voice is sweet,
And your face is lovely.”
Song of Solomon 2:3
For me nothing is more beautiful than the illustrative poetic writings of King Solomon found in the Old Testament. Here within this book lies the greatest romance of all ages ~ the love between the bride and her bridegroom. I simply adore how intimate and undone King Solomon was with his heavenly Father. An earthly king who possessed such great wealth and wisdom. I so desire to become that undone!
In this scripture our Lord is inviting us to come away with Him. He is continually extending an invitation to us to come to a new place, a higher place, a secret place with Him. There He desires to pour out His perfect love upon us, filling every void in our lives that the winter seasons have left. No matter what you are going through or what you have done He calls you “lovely” because that is how He truly sees you. He is grace personified.
So take the hand He has extended toward you ~ grasp it and never let it go. He will cause the dry lands in your life to water and bloom. He will turn your ashes to beauty and your tears to laughter. What a beautiful Savior we have in Jesus!
